SEARCH RESULTS FOR: Sample Albums

Here are three photos that won’t mean much to you but mean everything to me. They explain why I love wedding albums. The first is from my parents’ wedding in 1945, a beautiful sepia print in a classic folder. Young as he looks, Dad had just returned from five years at war. The girl on the left is his younger sister. Seven years later she married the young man on the right. Like my parents they were together for 55 years. The other woman is my mother’s best friend. I remember her, but she died quite young. The other uniformed man is my father’s best friend. I’m writing To View More >>
Previous | Contents | Next Download the eBook "That process has two distinct stages—before and after the shoot. The first sells the booking, the second is the up-sell…" High-end photographers have been selling albums profitably for as long as we’ve been in business, but for many today it seems a lost art. Why? Obviously the world has changed — "shoot-and-share" and "just the files" are seductive ideas, and so is selling online. And who needs the hassle of getting people into the studio, playing nice, offering them bubbles and selling To View More >>
Previous | Contents | Next Download the eBook If the first time you think about me is when you realise I’m blocking the sale, too late! Some years back there was a young man called Nigel working at Queensberry. He was about to get married, and that's how the following exchange got started. It prompted me to write a post in which I said that, to hear people talk, you’d think that only two people are involved in buying a wedding album – the bride and her mother. Same with portrait shoots, I was sure. I couldn't imagine To View More >>
In many markets Covid is likely to limit the size of weddings — and therefore wedding photography — for some months yet. And with all the restrictions and uncertainty many weddings are likely to be postponed until next season. But there's an upside! Any 2020 weddings delayed until 2021 and 2022 could make those years busier than normal! Which will be a great "problem" to have, as long as you can cope with the extra work. What that means… • This year albums will be very important as a way to maximise revenue and profit from wedding clients — both current To View More >>

Even with digital images and online galleries everywhere, the most impressive way to show off your work is with a printed portfolio. A printed book shows more than your photography skills. It expresses your design abilities, your taste in materials and your high standards as an artist. If you're thinking about creating your own portfolio, here are some ideas to get you started. They're not like wedding and portrait albums Sample albums normally mimic what you want to sell. They show prospective clients what to expect, and help them visualise their To View More >>

This is the second in a series about enhancing data privacy and controls in Workspace, especially in relation to GDPR. If you haven’t read our previous posts, start here. In today's post we discuss the privacy settings for Workspace online galleries, what each privacy setting means, and the changes we’ve made to ensure that your clients' data rights are protected. Photographs are considered to be personal data and are therefore subject to the rules about data protection. So if, like most photographers, you publish peoples' images in online galleries, or in sample albums To View More >>
You're probably aware of the widespread unease about data protection and privacy online — for example the Cambridge Analytica Facebook scandal and the other major data breaches that have been in the news so regularly. Protecting people's data is the focus of the European "GDPR" (General Data Protection Regulation), which comes into effect later this month. It applies to everyone who does business in the EU, including us and many of our clients. In brief the GDPR is saying that people have the right to complete control of their data, and that you, as To View More >>

Studios who want to offer "everything Queensberry" have found our starter kits and treasure boxes very useful in the past, but increasingly the data tells us that • Sample Albums are far more effective sales tools, and • not everyone wants to offer all our materials or colours! In fact many studios show nothing but their samples, and offer alternatives only if they're asked. Which is why we’ve redesigned our cover swatches and paper samplers to make them more affordable, and also more flexible — so you can show what you want To View More >>
